The Illinois Native Plant Society was founded in 1972 by a group of individuals who recognized the need to preserve the state’s native plants and natural landscapes. Since then, INPS has grown into a statewide organization of members, chapters, and partners working together to ensure healthy ecosystems for Illinois.
